The last race of the season
- 20.10. 2002 -
Stanislav Matejovsky before last race in season of Europen Truck Racing Cup 2002, Lausitzring, 20.10.2002 Modern German 4534-m-long circuit EuroSpeedway - Lausitzring is situated about 40 km north-west from Dresden. Three brands - Catterpillar, Buggyra and Tatra came here to take the last opportunity to compete in this year´s season of European Truck Racing Cup. Already recovered Stan Matejovsky also took part in this race - it was his last race as a truck driver.

Stan Matejovsky - after quite a long and involuntary pause caused by injury of his right leg - drove in Saturday Time Practice with time 2:14.717 the sixth position and in Sunday Qualifying Race he started from the third line. Start of Qualification was exactly at 11 a.m. The weather was sunny and windy and the temperature was around 8 Degrees but the truck was- because of previous rain - still very wet. Just in the first curve after start Gerd Koerber´s Buggyra had a collision with Alain Ferte´s Tatra and also Matejovsky slipped in this turning. This situation determined the final list of winners of the Qualification Race - Harri Luostarinen was the first, Matejovsky placed himself on the sixth position whereas he rode the fastest lap in this race with time 2:19.907 that corresponds to the speed 116.666 km/hour. The total time for 7 laps of Qualification Race was 17:27.358.

The Cup Race was ridden for 12 laps (54,456 km). Matejovsky´s average speed in this race was 121.126 km/hour and with total time 26:57.066 he placed 5th position. The race was won by German Gerd Koerber.

Stan Matejovsky didn't start in Spanish Jarama
- 6.10. 2002 -
The circuit in Jarama lying 28 km south of Madrid welcomed 10 Trucks of the class SUPER RACE TRUCK this weekend. During almost sunny weather and temperature about 24 °C alternative French rider Ludovic Faure also stood in for injured Stan Matejovsky in this competition. At first he reached very good results when he rode the second best time, then the fourth and in the third free practise even the best time. In the time practise Ludovic Faure had technical problems with hacked gas which let him down him for a few minutes from time practised rides. Finally he rode the third best time and on Sunday's qualification he started from the third position of the starting pole.

In Qualification Race was overwhelmed by a collision between Tatra driven by Ludovic Faure and the Harry Loustarinen's Caterpillar just in the first left turning. The French Faure finished this Qualification Race after this collision and after the one following, with David Vršecký on the sixth position. Later he was disqualified for this first collision with Harri Luostarinen and in afternoon cup race he was forced to start from the last tenth position. Although he also managed to get to the fifth position in this race. The trouble with breaking system eliminated him from the battles about better placing one lap before the end of this race.

CZECH TRUCK FEST, in Hradec Kralove for the second time
- 22. 9. 2002 -
From Friday 20th September to Sunday 22nd September Tatra Truck Racing Team took part in the meeting of carriers, owners, drivers and dealers of vans and trucks. This meeting – this year called Czech Truck Fest 2002 - was held on the airport in Hradec Králové. Besides the exhibitors of trucks, semi-trailers and superstructures there were also showed all competitive trucks from the Czech Republic represented in FIA European Truck Racing Cup 2002.

Competitive Tatra Jamal Evo III of Stan Matejovsky was exhibited in Hradec Králové for the second time this year. And the interest in it was great. On Friday trucks drove in front of HYPERNOVA supermarket in Hradec Králové, where they attracted attention. On Saturday, shortly before the noon, competitive Tatra led the “graceful ride” of all exhibited trucks through the streets of Hradec Králové to the airport, where it took part in many demonstration and competitive rides.

This year´s Truck Fest enjoyed absolutely perfect weather and so the thousands of the spectators really appreciated that. Many of them visited also V.I.P. area of Tatra Truck Racing Team. They could meet Stan Matejovsky, who was signing team posters for them. At this action also appeared many celebrities and team favourers and also testing driver Adam Lacko, who stood up for injured Stan Matejovsky in one of the races.

   Unlucky weekend in Belgian Zolder
- 15. 9. 2002 -
The whole weekend at Belgian circuit ZOLDER was spent in uncommonly nice and sunny weather, which however, brought bad luck to Tatra Tuck Racing Team.

Shortly after the beginning of Saturday Free Practices the electric control of injection pump broke off and the truck became uncontrollable. It caused an accident and hidden damage of back axle. It was fully expressed during third Free Practice when the back axle cracked and also the fuel tank was damaged. The repair of damaged truck needed longer time so it was impossible to start Saturday Time Practice. Ludovic Faure, who, in this race, stood up for injured Stan Matejovsky, had to start the Sunday Qualification from the last position.

Times obtained in Sunday warm up (1:54,903) brought 5th place for Tatra Jamal Evo III. That partially meant a good condition for improvement of the last starting position in the Qualification. But after hopeful start of Qualification the supercharger crashed and in the end there were only the 7th place and position in the 4th line on the start grid in Cup Race. This Cup Race was ridden for 14 laps (56,126 km). Ludovic Faure started well again, but in the half of the race he had to resign for a collision because of the left rear wheel damage.

Before the ninth – one before the last – FIA European Truck Racing Cup race which is held on 6th October 2002 on the circuit Jarama in Spain is the competition led by Harri Luostarinen (CAT, 154 points). In the Constructors Cup Tatra shares the second place with Buggyra (37 points).

Ludovic Faure at the steering wheel of Matejovsky´s TATRA
- 1. 9. 2002 -
Frenchman Ludovic Faure at the steering wheel of Tatra Jamal Evo III on the start of FIA ETRC Cup Race in Most As we have informed before, during this week - because of Stan Matejovsky´s injury - there was changed the driver of Tatra Jamal Evo III. So at the steering wheel appeared experienced French driver Ludovic Faure who drove Mercedes in Super Race Truck A class last season.

At Saturday Practices was Faure getting times which at the beginning responded 7th position but at the end he "grew together" with the truck and at Time Practice he placed at 5th position. Sunday Qualification Race was ridden for 8 laps and started at 1:20 p.m. Faure rode very well, he was fighting with Luostarinen for 4th place. But after finishing the Qualifying Race was together with Boesiger (Tatra, Deutsche Post World Net Truck Team) disqualified for exceeding the speed and so he was forced to start the Cup Race from the last position on the grid.

Cup Race was ridden for 12 laps and started at 3:50 p.m. Ludovic Faure placed at 6th position ahead of Gerd Koerber. The Race was won by Luostarinen, he obtained 28 points (8 for Qualification and 20 for winning) and he confirmed the position of the leader. Second winner was David Vrsecky (Buggyra).

Next Cup Race will take place on Sunday 15th September 2002 in Zolder, Belgium. The points for the placement for Ludovic Faure - because he is a deputy driver - will not be counted, but Tatra obtained points for the Cup of the Constructors and now is with 31 points and with 3 point ahead of Buggyra on the 2nd place.

Stan Matejovsky has been awarded with "Golden Clip FAS ACR" by Dominik Hasek
- 30. 8. 2002 -

Matejovsky injured, Tatra rides after all
- 29. 8. 2002 -
Injured Stan Matejovsky and his deputy French driver Ludovic Faure who will drive Tarta in 7th race of FIA European Truck Racing Cup in Most Current European Champion Stan Matejovsky should ride his last race in the Czech Republic - this is his last season - on Sunday 1st September in Most at Matador Czech Truck Prix. But two days before the race there was made a very unpleasant decision - Stan Matejovsky will not race in Most. He even can´t - his right leg is badly hurt.

Where did he come to harm? Pretty paradoxically at the moment when he was helping the others. He spent with his Tatra Truck Racing Team last weekend cleaning the damage in one of the flooded villages Zalezlice next to Melnik. On Sunday around the noon he slid on the mud and heavy table fell down on his leg. The effects are very troublesome. Internal ligaments on right ankle are strained and his leg will be for about 5 weeks ´decorated´ by plaster. " I wanted to have that plaster removed at least for the races, but doctors warned me not to do so - they told me my leg could be damaged forever." admitted Matejovsky sadly. The final decision was made on Wednesday afternoon. After consultation with doctor and with management of Tatra Koprivnice Matejovsky will not ride in Most. But his Tatra won´t be missing on the start. At the very last moment the team engaged experienced French driver Ludovic Faure - one of the best drivers in the history of truck races - who was the driver of DAF and MERCEDES in the past. We suppose him to represent our team very well. We certainly thought about engaging the test driver Adam Lacko. But we had to consider that at the same weekend Lacko will ride in Most in the last but one race CP Skoda Octavia Cup and managing both races would be very demanding and it could spoil the result in both disciplines so Ludovic Faure was preferred.

Stan Matejovsky terribly regrets that he won´t be able to take part in the race which will be ridden for Czech spectators and which belongs to one of his favourite circuits. At the end of November Tatra Truck Racing Team will announce how many trucks and which drivers will be set for the season 2003.

Tatra Truck Racing Team helps with removing floods´ damages in Zalezlice
- 25. 8. 2002 -
Stanislav Matejovsky (on the picture left) with other members of Tatra Truck Racing Team were helping with removing the catastrophic damages during August floods in Zálezlice A week before start of Matador Czech Truck Prix 2002 in Most Stanislav Matejovsky together with the members of Tatra Truck Racing Team participated to removing floods damages in one of the most involved area - in village Zalezlice in region Melnik. All of them put their free time to help local people with clearing water flooded things and preparing some objects for demolition works, because there are 75 houses pending for demolition from the total of 120 in this village.

Just before helping Stanislav Matejovsky together with the boss of Most circuit Mr. Jiri Krouzek and a model Jana Prihodova organized a financial help, when they collected money and passed them to a couple Mr. And Mrs. Misovic from Zalezlice, to whom the water took all their property.

During this extra team action it wasn´t too suitable to take photos, although we took some photos and these just illustrate the catastrophic damage extension, which happened in Zalezlice - and of course not only there - during this year floods in August in the Czech Republic.

Katerina Neumannova and Jaromir Jagr visited Tatra Truck Racing Team
- 11. 8. 2002 -
Katerina Neumannova, Jaromir Jagr and Stanislav Matejovsky in the pit of Tatra Truck Racing Team At the race occasion Ceska Pojistovna Skoda Octavia Weekend 2002 in Most the officials organized exhibition ride, in which the drivers Matejovsky with Tatra Jamal EVO III and Hudeček with Ferrari competed. The officials prepared an interesting show for spectators, where the final position did not matter (the race was driven for 5 laps and Matejovsky with Tatra was faster by about a few thousand seconds in the final) apart of fan experience. Both of the drivers with the director of races in Most Mr Gerhard Ittner withdrew several valuable presents for spectators and because the race was called “Great bet about little beer” the drivers were leaving the winning stages refreshed by “delicious liquid”.

A short time before this exhibition race well known sportswoman Katerina Neumannova and Jaromir Jagr met Stanislav Matejovsky in the pits of Tatra Truck Racing Team. Chairman of The Board in Tatra, a.s. Kopřivnice Mr Milota Srkal also talked to them and brought many honoured guests and fans of truck sport from USA. In informal discussion all of them admired Jaromir Jagr courage to try racing truck right on the circuit. And it really took place and Jaromir Jagr managed to ride 1 lap just before the above mentioned race TATRA versus FERRARI. Jaromir Jagr passed one practise lap with racing truck. Finally Katerina Neumannova gave up driving the truck and stayed together with fans at the audience stage and encouraged Jagr from there.

After finishing of exhibition the team stayed on Most circuit till Monday 12th August because of two-day-test rides were planned. Catastrophic weather following endless rainstorm, which started in the area of Most circuit just after ending the Sunday’s racing programme exactly exiled the team from racing circuit and on Monday morning it was decided to stop the testing. We believe that in three week time at the occasion of the 7th European Cup Truck Race, which is the 10th anniversary of truck races on Most circuit as well the weather will be much more better and will offer a valuable experience for all fans. It will be cherished by performances of well known music bands URIAH HEEP, SLADE, KATAPULT, DOKTOR PP and BANJO BAND of IVAN MLÁDEK and many more other attractions prepared by officials for the 10th anniversary of Truck sports in Most. Detailed programme of Matador Czech Truck Prix 2002 will be presented on these pages as soon as possible.

   Important points from Finnish Alastar
- 4. 8. 2002 -
Stan Matejovsky before The Cup Race in Finnish Alastar After a year the racing trucks rode down again onto a distant circuit to Finnish Alastar, which lies approximately on a half way between Finnish capital Helsinki and well-known town Tampere for Ice-hockey fans. The time has become very fine and sunny weather with temperature just above 20 degrees Celsius during both of the days.

During Saturday’s practises Stan Matejovsky ran over times, which conformed to the 6th or 7th position and that was the result of time practise, when the 7th best time placed Stan Matejovsky’s Tatra onto the fourth line of starting pole in Sunday’s Qualification race. It started at 1:15 p.m. and it should be originally ridden for 12 laps but thanks to the problems at the start it was shorted for 11 laps, that means approx. 30,8 km. Matejovsky came in 6th and stepped onto the third line of starting pole for the start in Sunday’s Cup Race.

The Cup Race started at 3:10 p.m. and it was ridden for 18 laps. Half way through the race the differential gear of Stan´s truck started to mess around, which was very problematic on this circuit. Nevertheless, Stan placed on the sixth position and he got 11 points in the Cup Race. He is on the sixth position with 59 points in total score and leads by about four points before his rival David Vršecky with Buggyra. Swiss Markus Boesiger (Tatra) won the races and he obtained four points for Tatra in Manufacture Cup. Tatra with 28 points holds the second position and loses just 6 points for the leading Caterpillar.

Another Cup Race will be held on Sunday 1st September 2002 in Most. Before this race the motor fans can see Stanislav Matejovsky’s Tatra during exhibition ride on Sunday 11th August 2002 held at the motor weekend on Autodrom in Most, CR.

Regrettably the weather won in Nurburgring
- 14. 7. 2002 -
It really wasn't possible to race in Nurburgring this time ... The fifth race of FIA European Truck Racing Cup 2002 should have been taking place near German town Nurburg in the days from 12th to 14th July. On one of the most famous circuit Nurburgring the track has been adjusted in a little bit different way than last years. It was extended by adding a technical part "Mercedes-Arena" just after the start (schematic outline is in photo gallery to these races). Totally it is 3.625 m long.

The Truck Races are very popular in Germany and this rainy sport weekend wasn't an exception. Saturday's afternoon storm and following rainstorm didn't turn down the crowds of fans. The result of the pouring water was shortening the afternoon time practise of Super Truck Race Class from one hour to thirty minutes. The committee decided to continue the time practise on Sunday morning at 8:30. Stan Matejovsky ran over the fourth best time in this "shorter" time practise after Finnish Luostarinen, Swiss Markus Boesiger and French Alain Ferté and prepared a good starting position for Sunday's Qalification race. However, Nurburgring woke up into a thick fog following by permanent rain on Sunday morning. The FIA arbitration committee gradually kept postponing the Qualification start from originally planned 11:55 o'clock - always by 1 hour - when eventually at 2:30 p.m. definitely decided to cancel the races for inclement weather. It has happened for the first time during the seventeen years of truck history on this circuit. All drivers set on the track on Sunday afternoon just to be followed by a huge salute of many fans on the stands in Nurburgring.

The team will go on the next Cup Race to a distant circuit in Finnish Alastar, where the next Cup Race will be held on Sunday 4th August 2002.

TATRA - the winner in the southern France
- 23. 6. 2002 -
Stan Matejovsky and TATRA JAMAL EVO III during Qualifying Race on Paul Armagnac circuit in French Nogaro In the south of France in Nogaro there was in the days 22nd - 23rd June ridden the fourth race of European Truck Racing Cup on technical, 3636m long circuit Paul Armagnac. On Friday, during test rides, overcast, but temperatures were around 30°C. On Saturday the sky was clear and with temperatures above 35 °C there were tired drivers and trucks as well. On the contrary on Sunday still overcast the whole morning and the thermometer showed pleasant 24 °C.

In Saturday Test rides Stan Matejovsky had good times which meant 6th or 7th position. After the third Time Practice a damage of gearbox occurred and it was clear that - because of the repairing of the gearbox - TATRA won´t be able to appear on Saturday Time Practice. In Sunday Qualification Tatra started from the last position. But 3 laps before the end of Qualification Stan Matejovsky managed to overtake Antonio Albacete (Catepillar) and so he credited 5 points for sixth place and won better starting position for the Cup Race. In the Race he placed himself at 5th position and gained 8 points. Cup Race was won by Markus Boesiger ahead of Frenchman Alain Ferté (Both on TATRA trucks). Brand TATRA credited other important points for the Cup of Constructors. This Cup is led by CAT (30 points) ahead of TATRA (19 points) and Buggyra (16 points).

After these races the team will stay on Monday on the Paul Armagnac circuit in Nogaro because of some tests. The next Cup race will be ridden in German Nurburgring on 14th July 2002.

Stanislav Matejovsky visited Autotec fair in Brno
- 19. 6. 2002 -
On 10th and 11th June 2002 Stan Matejovsky visited Autotec fair in Brno. He met there several partner companies (Tatra, CAC leasing, Ferodo, Hesti) for which Stan prepared a special signing action. The "Competing truck" didn´t appear at Brno because after demanding race in Austria the mechanics were preparing it for the next race in Nogaro (France). The team set out for the 2000 km long way on Tuesday 18th June 2002.

Races on Austrian A-1 Ring brought other important points for TATRA
- 9. 6. 2002 -
Tatra Jamal Evo III before the start of Cup Race (Austria, 9.6.2002, A1 Ring) Third race of FIA European Truck Racing Cup took place on A-1 Ring in Austrian Spielberg from 8th to 9th June. Tatra Truck Racing Team arrived in the place of the race on Wednesday 5th June and the preparation of the truck seemed to lead up to the setting for wet track. But the unpredictable weather prepared a surprise for everybody - Saturday weather was by 100% different than on the two previous days. The sun was shining since morning and the temperature was slowly climbing to 20°C.

But nice weather didn´t bring complete clearness for setting the truck for Saturday Free Practices. They were ridden one by one at 9:45, at 12:05 and at 13:50, each time for 20 minutes. Tatra rode reliably, but the needed enforcement was still missing. In first two practices was Stan Matejovsky losing about 0,9 sec. for the leaders and so he was placing the 7th position in the field. After second Free Practice it was decided to change the supercharger, part of inlet and also to make some changes on the chassis setting on the basis of telemetry results. It appeared in the third Free Practice and especially in the following Time Practice when Matejovsky with attained times was slowly coming near to his rivals. Time Practice results gave him 5th starting position in the 8-member field in Sunday qualification. However, other technical arrangements on the truck after Sunday warm-up doomed Stan Matejovsky to start from the pitline. It caused that after "dead start" he was reaching the field of competitors several laps. But in the end - thanks very good fighting ride - he placed the 6th position ahead of Swiss Boesiger (TATRA) and Frenchman Arlaud (Renault). He credited 5 points to the total classification.

Cup Race was started exactly at 15:00 and on the basis of the qualification results was Matejovsky starting from the third line together with David Vrsecky (Buggyra). A-1 Ring is for truck races adapted for 2336m length and the cup race was 22 laps long. The first curve and first lap often determine the order of drivers. And it was in the first curve when David Vrsecky overtook Matejovsky and from that moment both were fighting for the 6th position. Finally in the dramatic finish Matejovsky in the last curve overtook Vrsecky and confirmed 6th position in the total classification. The races were won by Harri Luostarinen (Caterpillar) who also leads after the third race.

After returning from Austria Tatra Truck Racing Team will at the beginning of new week take part in Exhibition Autotech 2002 in Brno. There will be prepared signing action on the partner companies stands. Then will team absolve short testing on circuit in Most. For French Nogaro will Tatra leave already on Tuesday 18th June 2002. Another, already 4th race will be ridden in the south of France on Sunday 23rd June 2002.

   Exhibition in Usti nad Orlici
- 2.6.2002 -
Up-hill races in Usti nad Orlici visited also the chairman of the board of TATRA a.s. Mr. Milota Srkal The interval between the race in Italian Misano and the third race in sequence - on the Austrian A-1 ring - was used by TATRA Truck Racing team for accepting the invitation to International up-hill races in Usti nad Orlici to show there TATRA JAMAL EVO III driven by Stan Matejovsky.

Similarly as in the previous years truck attracted spectators who bordered 3650 m long track with 350 m rise. Stan Matejovsky´s TATRA took part during Saturday in all 3 Free Practices of Super Race Truck class. At first he was placing 5th position with the 0,7 second loss to leading Harri Luostatinen. At 3rd Free Practice appeared problems on control section as well as on brake system. Muller team found their positions not far from our team - Misano 23rd May 2002 After two-days long journey from Barcelona TATRA Truck Racing TEAM arrived on Wednesday night in the place of second race of FIA European Truck Racing Cup in Italian Misano.    TATRA went into the new year of European Truck Racing Cup
- 15.5.2002 -
Main protagonists of European Truck Racing Cup 2002 (Barcelona 19.5.2002) Stan Matejovsky´s team arrived in the Catalunya circuit already on Wednesday the 15th of May in the morning. The circuit is situated near Spain Barcelona and our TV viewers had the opportunity to acquaint themselves with this circuit due to recent Formula 1 races broadcast.

TATRA JAMAL EVO III, prepared during the winter rest, was - compared to last year´s model - changed. One of the most important change was the installation of new engine with type designation SMR 126 R, which takes up the previous line. Also the equipment of the team was essentially changed. It now disposes of hospitality for 50 visitors. An important contribution is from the technical aspect essentially innovated telemetry. Due to this innovation is possible to watch more data during testing as well as during races, which certainly enables technicians and driver to optimise strategic decisions.

There were 11 trucks registered on this circuit to the European Truck Racing Cup - Super Race Truck - Buggyra (2), Cat (2), DAF (2), Renault (1), TATRA (3) and Volvo (1).

After timed practice on Saturday was Stan Matejovsky´s TATRA on one of the last positions due to disqualification for overrunning the speed limit. Together with him there were other 4 drivers disqualified for the same reason - Luostarinen from Finland (CAT), German Koerber (Buggyra), Frenchman Ferté (TATRA) and David Vrsecky (Buggyra). It marked standing in qualification race on Sunday, where Stan Matejovsky in the end reached the 5th position and so he started the Cup Race from the 3rd line together with David Vrsecky (Buggyra, CZ). Shortly after start in the first lap Stan Matejovsky and Gerd Koerber had a collision, when Koerber got "clocks" in front of Matejovsky and he crashed into Koerber´s standing truck. Koerber was able to get from this situation faster while Matejovsky had to shift into reverse gear, lost 15 valuable seconds and meanwhile he was reached and overtaken by Ferte (Tatra, F) and Vrsecky (Buggyra, CZ). Matejovsky started following ride and although he reached his rivals he wasn´t able to overtake them.

After race Stan Matejovsky said: " The important thing is, that we proved good tuning of our truck in both time practice and in race. We decided to change the differential gear on this circuit, which also helped to improvement of driving quality. We will repair our crashed truck here on the circuit in Catalunya and on Tuesday we will move to Italian Misano to the circuit Santa Monica. I know this circuit very well so I believe we will reach better result and we will have more sport luck than here in Barcelona.

In final list after first race with 30 points leads Spaniard Albacete with full profit of 30 points. Matejovsky is on the 7th place with 10 points.
