  Brno's AGROTEC 2002 EPILOG |
|
- 5. 10. 2002 - Autodrom Brno -
On Sunday 5th October 2002 Michal Matejovsky entered on six-hour car EPILOG race on Brno Autodrom for the first time in his career. This year's, already the fourth season, enabled drivers to compare their skills concerning circuit races in the Czech Republic. All circuit cars without the difference of airspace except formula cars can take part in this race. The race was started by flying start at 3:30 p.m. and finished at 9:30 p.m. While Friday Time Practice was ridden in the rain, during Saturday race the truck was dry the whole six hours.
In this race three riders Petr Kolar (PEGAS Motorsport, CZ) Michal Matejovsky (Krenek Motorsport, CZ) and Milota Srkal jr. (USA) drove Pick-up PFS - Felicia with starting number 55 of Krenek Motorsport team. During Friday Time Practices the crew rode the 34th best time from total 60 crews which created starting pole. In its class - among Pick-up cars - finished with the 4th best time. The first driver of racing marathon was Petr Kolar whom Michal Matejovsky changed approximately at 5.30 p.m. just after 2 hours of riding. Before this changing the team placed about excellent 21st place and among Pick-up cars the third place. But in the half of the race there appeared the failure of the gearbox (unstable during the 6th driving position engaged), which got worse in final. Despite this trouble both other drivers (Milota Srkal and Petr Kolar) - managed not to lose a good position in hard conditions. The team finally placed the 4th place among Pick-up cars and 30th place in total with passing the finish in limited time 121 times with average speed 110,45 km/h. 14 crews didn't finish difficult six-hour race.   Michal Matejovsky tests with racing car Skoda Octavia |
|
- 18. 9. 2002 -
Not even after finishing of 6 - parts serial of MATADOR Skoda Pick-up Free Style 2002 Michal Matejovsky doesn't take a rest. In the middle of the third September week Michal tested racing Skoda Octavia of Bohemia Racing Team a. s. on Most circuit, perfectly prepared for this testing by Krenek Motorsport. Michal arrived in Most with his father and mechanics and Josef Krenek, the head of Krenek Motorsport team.
Testing was divided into three series, which were naturally meeting. The weather was for riding perfect so the time limited for opening tests was used for getting the first valuable findings for rider and also for the team. " Driving this car is very pleasant, I gradually get used to different way of shifting in comparison with racing car Pick-up and of course that the riding properties are quite different. We suppose to realise a few testing rides during following two months to be ready for next season." said Michal Matejovsky after finishing the rides.

Michal Matejovsky - the most successful beginner |
|
- 1. 9. 2002 -
Last August weekend on the circuit in Most culminated the six-part serial of races MATADOR Skoda Pick-up Free Style 2002. Michal finished both races without major problems although the collision in Saturday race did him out of better placing.
And how did the weekend developed for Michal? On Saturday 31st August already at 8 o´clock was the racing program opened by the Pick-up Time Practice. Michal obtained 11th time (1:50.15) and in the afternoon race he started from the sixth line. A few laps after the start when he gradually started to overtake riders in front of him it came to collision and Pavel Moravec (AMK DELTA Autosport, start No. 9, see photo gallery) drove him during overtaking out of the circuit. After this collision Michal Matejovsky finished on the 15th position.
In Sunday Time Practice Michal drove on the wet truck the 7th best time (2:04.274) and in the race he finished 8th. In final file of serial MATADOR Skoda Pick-up Free Style 2002 Michal Matejovský placed the eighth position with 238 points. He was in the starting pole with more than thirty riders the youngest one and thanks to his racing experience and final results he became the most successful beginner.

Race in Most did not pass without collision |
|
- 9-10-11. 8. 2002 -
On Thursday 8th August Michal Matejovsky could try dry and wet tyres during practises because the first training rides were ridden in very nice weather and on the contrary the second ride in stormy rain. The times under 1,52.000 said that the car was prepared quite well.
On Friday the first problems appeared, when the alternator and petrol lifter had started to loose. Mechanics repaired the causes and also changed plugs. On Saturday time practise, where ten laps are ridden in just 30 minutes time limit Michal was unlucky – in the fourth time practise lap the right holder of front wheel broke and the car couldn’t continue in race. Even though this mishap Michal could write down the 8th best time, which placed him to the fourth starting line of Saturday race. After a very good start in this race Michal gradually got onto the sixth position and would surely continue in chasing ride but in the eighth lap collision with Michal Dolak came and he quite thoughtlessly drove Matejovsky out of the circuit. Michal managed to get back and finally he reached the 12th position in total time 28:40.389 with the fifth best time ridden the fastest lap in the race (1:50.197).
To the second race on Sunday 11.8.2002 Michal started from the sixth line (qualifying time 1:50.933) and during quite equal race, ridden for 15 laps, in about half of the race he managed to overtake the competitor with starting number 23 Miroslav Myslivec and so he competed for the tenth position. Then problems with engine tuning appeared again and Michal dropped on the eleventh position, which he kept till the end of the race. It was raced in cloudy weather and the track was getting dry after previous rain. Michal Matejovsky time in finish was 28:22.295. After these races he is in total score on the 7th position from thirty-five members starting pole with 199 points.
Another, already the last race of serial MATADOR – Škoda Pickup Free style 02’ is ridden on Most circuit last weekend in August.

After the races in Most Michal Matejovsky reached the 7th. place |
|
- 14.7.2002 -
Michal started the free practice in a very good mood and concentrated onto the best result. Shortly the gear got stacked on the fourth gear stage and that did not mean any good. The Mechanics, same as at the previous race in Brno, showed their skills at a quick repair of gear box.
On Saturday the disappointment reached the extend after acknowledgement the time 1:51:300 got him onto the 19. position, on the contrary to last year, when this time brought him onto the third, max. fourth position. The weather was good and therefore the target meant "each lap one overtaken driver". Michal has managed that and he finished 9th.
In second time practice he placed on the 13th place. In Sunday race itself he has a lot to catch up again. Race start was also overwhelmed by the collision of David Losman from FAST BIRD Racing team and there had to be done a new start. After demanding and a little bit crazy race Michal placed himself on a 7th place.
After the fourth racing weekend the total score is Petr Kolař (AUTOSPORT PEGAS s.r.o.) in the lead, Michal Matejovsky (Křenek MOTORSPORT) improved himself in the total score on the seventh place. Michal is attending next races in middle August, on the Most circuit in the days of 10.-11.8.2002.

Summer price of Brno 2002 |
|
- 30.6.2002 -
Michal has especially prepared for this race. At Friday free practices it started to rain a bit and that is one thing, which Michal does not particularly enjoys. The Practice was driven at "rain - no rain conditions" and the total training times were not convincing at all.
On Saturday the wind started to blow and the track was dry. In timed practice Michal drove the 11th best time. Into the first race the score was very hopeful and mainly after the brave ride Michal initially reach the seventh place, and optimism was to overcome. The hopes were taken away immediately when the rewound engine appeared and eventually 11th place was obtained. Mechanics managed to change the engine in a very fine time. But with a brand new, never before used engine Michal had to choose a non-incursive ride and managed to keep the eleventh position.
"I have tried wet and dry track in Brno, on Sunday we had a little problems because there has not been enough time to adjust the new engine. Nevertheless, we are satisfied in total." said Michal after the race.

Michal Matejovsky in second race of Matador Skoda Pick-up Free Style 2002 |
|
- 9.6.2002 -
After successful entering new season in the race took place in April in the terms of Brno Spring prize Michal Matejovsky took part in second race of this year serial on the circuit in Most. He started the race from the 5th position with total score of 63 points.
But the races didn´t develop according to Michal´s visions. Already in Saturday race Michal´s competing car had a defect on fuel delivery system that caused many troubles. In the main Sunday race Michal fought 6th start position which he kept for several laps in the race. But then he crashed in one of the turns, he turned round a few times and regarding to the damage of the car this competitive weekend in Most for Michal was finished.
At the moment the car is being repaired and Michal is ready for next race of Skoda Matador Pick-up Free Style 2002 which will be taking place last weekend in June on the circuit in Brno.

Successful start to the new season |
|
- 27.4.2002 -
Michal Matejovsky entered to the new season of the races MATADOR - Škoda Pick-Up Free Style '02 very successfully when he placed himself at a very nice the 6th position in Saturday race and even the 5th position on Sunday.
The way to these successful positions was not easy at all. Michal signified by all training times on Saturday that he would battle for the leading position. But the weather was a little bit disappointing which performed perfectly changing mood - though it was the end of April. It was raining during the morning training and also after it and team decided for "wet" tyres. Shortly after the noon when Saturday Championship race for 12 circuits started, sun shone and the track was dry in a very short time. Michal managed to achieve the 6th position and the first points of final score even though he had the disadvantage of the wet tyres.
On Sunday during the time practise the lid of the gear came off at the start of the race and therefore the following race was jeopardising Michal´s position in that race. He could not take part in the time practise and with the approval of director he could participate in Sunday race, however from the last position of twenty members field. Shortly after the start he started to struggle from this position forward and in the end he achieved the 5th position. Petr Kolar, who is Michal's team colleague succeeded in racing too. He occupied the 2nd place in Saturday race and he won Sunday race.
After Spring Cup in Brno Michal said: "I'm satisfied about the fact how both races finished. I am very satisfied with the car as well and I believe that in the next race at the beginning of June in Most we have a great chance to confirm and perhaps to improve today's placing." Michal obtained 14 points for the Saturday 6th position and Sunday 5th position and so he has got very good starting position for the next races.

Preparation for the new season is culminating |
|
- 26.3.2002 -
In connection with the preparing for this year's season, Michal Matějovský took the advantage of the possibility to test together with the Czech Cart Team JOKA in Italian Pomposa (circa 100 km South from Venezia). The distance, more than one thousand kilometres south allowed Michal to try the machine with BIREL undercarriage and a new MT engine of 125 cc on break of January and March, when the conditions in the Czech Republic are still extremely unfavourable for testing.
In the days from 27th February to 4th March 2002 - for four days - had the riders of team JOKA - Erik Janis, Adam Lacko, Jan Charouz and Michal Mateojvsky at disposal perfectly prepared racing track. The spare day - Sunday 3rd March - they exploited for visiting a motorcycle competition OPEN MASTERS LONATO.
Shortly after returning home Michal left to the prestige "meeting of the champions", which took place at Car Centre in Radotin. The top Czech riders - uphill riders, motocross riders, cart riders and circle riders - took part in two hour long cart race. In general, there were nine three-member teams. The team - Michal Matejovsky, Jindrich Stolfa and Martin Jansa - was on the fifth place of the competition.
After this carting "intermezzo" Michal fully returned to the test rides with his racing Pick Up car, which was prepared by Motorsport Krenek for this year's season. The first sharp tests were on Monday 11th March. Although the wet and slippery track wasn't just ideal Michal managed to get very good times. Testing on the racing track of the Autodrom in Most will regularly take place once a week now, until beginning of the season. MM CR AUTO - The Spring Prize, which takes place from 26th April to 28th April in Brno will be the first race in this year's season.
