Competitive Skoda Pick Up before start of EPILOG in Brno on 20. 10. 2001 This year in spring Michal Matejovsky tested new Formula Skoda as well as Skoda PICK Up. Team Motorsport Křenek - on which behalf fifteen-years-old Michal Matejovsky competes in this year - decided to tend to the second alternate

So Michal appeared for the first time on the starting field of August Race MATADOR Skoda Pick-up FREE STYLE 01´, which took place in terms of very interesting motorist weekend on circuit Most in the days 3. - 5. 8. 2001. Main actions of that weekend were races of European Le Mans series arranged in Czech Republic for the first time at all. Michal Matejovsky got 14. position on starting field for Saturday races and 12. position for Sunday race. So he started on Saturday from 7th line but problems with the cable of engine starter just at the moment of start placed him after fist lap at the end of starting field. After it Michal went on chasing drive, he took over more than ten drivers and he placed very nice 12. place. In Sunday race, when he started from the 6th line he kept the 12. position till the end and if there were not damaged tyre after full braking in 6th lap his place could be better. Both races had 13 laps and one lap was 4148 m long.

Next time Michal pulled out into the starting field of 'Pick-ups' in terms of this competition during complementary program CZECH TRUCK PRIX 2001 held in Most in the days 1. - 2. 9.2001. Also in these races he got along quite well, but he had several collisions and one of them set him aside (black flag for foreign help). On Sunday he finished the race in the middle of the starting field.

During September and October Michal Matejovsky prepared himself for last two races - Autumn Prix of Brno 2001 (MM CR Division 4+1, 3.Z), which was held in the days 28. - 30. 9. 2001 and EPILOG, six-hours long car race, which took place again on Masaryk´s circuit in Brno on Saturday the 20th 10. 2001. In first of both races got along very well. First was Antonin Charouz with Porsche GT 3, on the second place was Robert Pergl with Ferrari 360 CH. Michal was generally on 18th place, but among Pick Up cars he placed 5th place.

Two days before the second race Michal unfortunately badly hurt his leg. So he was in originally suggested trio Petr Kolar, Radek Mifka and Michal Matejovsky in new Skoda Pick Up (starting number 53) so replaced by Roman Halada. In the end the crew didn´t finish the race because of failure of the engine. Photographs of competitive car are placed in photogallery.

All experience of this year is for Michal and for team Motorsport Krenek very important and near future will show in which class and in which car will Michal introduce himself in next year. We will certainly inform you regularly about preparing the new season on these pages.
Michal Matejovsky drives MATADOR - Skoda Pick-up Free Style ´01
- 20.8.2001 -
Michal Matejovsky's racing Pick-up during races in Most In spring this year Michal Matejovsky has been testing a new Formule Skoda, as well as Skoda PICK UP. After several test with Krenek Motorsport Michal decided for the second alternation and therefore Michal appeared for the first time in starting field of August race MATADOR Skoda Pick-up Free Style 01´ taking place at a very interesting motor weekend in days 3rd - 5th. August 2001 at Autodrom Most. The big events of this weekend were the European LE MANS races organized for the first time in The Czech Republic.

Michal had started free practices already on Wednesday before the weekend. Despite the heat (about 31oC) he managed to drive times, which took him onto the middle position among 26-member starting pole. On Friday two timed practices were driven, important from Saturday and Sunday race start.

Michal drove for 14th. position for Saturday races and for 12th. position for Sunday race. On Saturday race he started from the seventh row, but the starter cable problems at the moment of start took him at the end of starting pole after the first race. Then Michal started a successful chasing drive, overtook tens of drives and he ended up on a very nice 12th. place. In Sunday race, where he started from the sixth row he kept the 12th. position till the finish. Unfortunately this race was influenced by a damaged tire after full braking in the sixth lap, otherwise the position would have been far better. Both races were driven for 13 laps, lap length was 4148m.

After a successful entry onto the Skoda Pick-up circuits and obtaining first points Michal is facing new races, which are driven in days 1st - 2nd September at the event of Czech Truck Prix 2001. So at that weekend both - the father Stan (FIA European Truck Racing Cup 2001, class Super Race Truck B) and the son - will be fighting for so important points.
Michal Matejovsky is preparing himself on his first season in racing car
- 9.4.2001 -
In the days of 9th- 12th 4. a young driver Michal Matejovsky (15) from Hradec Králové took part in "circuit school" on motor-racing circuit in Most, under the lead of Mr. Jiří Patera.

In close future he will take part in several test sets with both Škoda PICK UP and formula Škoda. All aspects undergo the necessity for Michal to obtain as many experiences as possible and therefore to be well prepared for his first race with formula Škoda, which will take place in Most on 25th - 27th 5. 2001.

Serial of races is beginning on 21st - 22nd 4. in Brno. However, the new Formula Škoda from Křenek Motorsport Team will be prepared for the second race of the serial in Most. Michal will use this time partly for testing and also for intensive preparation for high school entrance examinations.
    Formula  Skoda
- 8.2.2001 -
Michal Matějovský will soon race around in formula in the Championship of ČR. Fifteen-years-old Michal, son of European truck prix driver Stanislav Matějovský will take part in the serial of National Championship in Formula Škoda. “ This class is ideal for Michal to incept the necessary principles for racing” said Mr. Stanislav Matějovský about his son´s choice. Michal isn´t a novice on race circuits. Until now he paid his attention to kart races, last season mostly in Germany. But he sprang up a lot lately and it would be a disadvantage for him against the others. Also the necessity of frequent travelling abroad prevented from continuing in kart races, where Michal was able to compete older and more skilled drivers. Another reason that appears is, that Michal intends to study at a high school and often stays abroad would mean inconvenience for it.

Formula Škoda has been developing in late years. On the contrary to last season there will be a race of Champion of Republic this year. Those will be first-class races for young drivers, who need to learn everything about racing not only by means of driving skills but also technical skills - how to manage the setting of a car for race and co-operation with technicians. It is the main contribution of Formula Škoda for young drivers in this year. Sixfold National season, which will take place in Brno and Most, Michal Matějovský will drive for team Motorsport Křenek. From March he will be testing on an older car, and he will have completely new car for races. Because of construction of the new car Michal will not be able to get onto the opening race of the season, which is on the programme within the end of April in Brno.

In this year Michal will seek to gain as much experiences as he can for his future racing career.
